Avatar
would a tulpa not based around an independent train of thought be real?
Avatar
That's a bit circular, if you ask what exists then you get to the same question of what is real
Avatar
so far as you would consider, that is
Avatar
You cannot prove the existence of a universe from within it.
Avatar
I'm not really sure if that answers my question
Avatar
I believe that a tulpa not based around an independent train of thought would be real.
Avatar
Sorry, I feel like you've been driven to be a bit defensive here
Avatar
Nah, been defensive in my approach since the schizophrenia debate.
11:28 PM
I have made far more counterarguments than arguments.
Avatar
well, that was quite the afk
Avatar
ive been reading about people having accidental tulpas or hallucinations in some cases, is this normal?
Avatar
It is not within the norm of society, no.
Avatar
well, for a neurotypical tulpamancer, is it likely?
Avatar
Are you hallucinating on purpose?
Avatar
i'm not
Avatar
No, that is abnormal, and you should seek medical help.
Avatar
i'm talking about a rather horror story-esque situation, don't want to name which story because i am not familiar w rules
5:10 AM
i am not experiencing it
Avatar
If you are hallucinating.
5:10 AM
Oh, good.
5:10 AM
stories about people with walk in tulpas frequently, intrusive thoughts, and a lack of control really
Avatar
No, that is having a mental disorder.
Avatar
im sure its far from the norm and would take a lot of deliberate action to get to the last listed point but
5:11 AM
yee..
5:11 AM
walk in tulpas tho
5:11 AM
do they happen?
Avatar
I hear that they do.
5:11 AM
I have not experienced them.

I've had a couple times that had happened. Only for a slight second though. One of my systemmates removed me from a discord server a couple weeks ago and it took me a minute to realize it. I also have a friend who's "unclassified" headmate took control and punched someone before.
Avatar
I am unsure how that is related.
5:13 AM
If you are hallucinating, Maria, seek mental help.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 5:13 AM
No.
Avatar
That is a sign of many serious disorders. There is something wrong with you.
Avatar
Deleted User 5/16/2018 5:13 AM
The only reason I'm going to seek a mental help is for my anxiety and possible ocd upon other things.
Avatar
Well, if you are hallucinating, there is something seriously wrong.
5:14 AM
You need a professional to check that out.
Avatar
i assume if one is to be a tulpamancer who can practice possession with at least one tulpa
5:14 AM
and unless they have surfacing did symptoms they wont have anything else having control rite
5:15 AM
i guess that's my fear, i hope i phrased properly
Avatar
They should not, no.
Avatar
im just shook from sitting on a train car reading the worst stories i could find
Avatar
Besides, if you get a "walk-in" tulpa, they are not really developed enough, so you can just ignore them. (edited)
Avatar
i definitely have different motives so thanks for the reassurance harleen
5:15 AM
wait
5:16 AM
i can ignore them? or no
Avatar
You can.
Avatar
ah okie
Avatar
I do hope you feel better. Ignore the horror stories.
5:18 AM
They are all tales.
Avatar
i appreciate it
Avatar
I will recount, Maria, that if you are hallucinating, which I am assuming that you are not really, I would advise you seek medical help for it, as it is a serious sign that there is something wrong with you. I do not think you are actually hallucinating, as if you were, I do promise that you would want medical help as it is distressful to not know what is real or not.

I will ask to please not keep telling me to seek mental help. Thank you.
Avatar
I will ask that you do not spread misinformation that hallucinating is common is tulpamancy, as that was the question. Thank you. (edited)
Avatar
Hallucination in and of itself has no bias for a medical diagnosis. Nearly every human hallucinates regularly on a small scale.
Avatar
Hallucinating because a "systemmate" took control, is not.
5:28 AM
That is abnormal and not healthy.
5:29 AM
So, yes, theoretically, hearing your name called from another room, on occasion, is normal. The situation presented, was not.
Avatar
Possibly, but recommending that someone should seek medical help simply for hallucinating in small amounts is rude. http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/08/how-your-mind-protects-you-against-hallucinations (edited)
Avatar
Not in with the abnormal situation.
5:37 AM
That is clearly very abnormal.
5:37 AM
I do not find it rude at all.
Avatar
Suggesting to seek medical help in the case of anomalous mental issues that are persistent is reasonable.
Avatar
I find it rather kind, when I was hallucinating and did not know, and people realized I was behaving strangely, I would have been appreciative had someone pointed it out, at least I would be now.
5:39 AM
Of course, that had nothing to do with tulpas, and I did not realize it, but both are very strange behaviour.
Avatar
Hallucinating for a "few seconds" would be comparable to simply spacing out and seems hardly an issue.
Avatar
Not when it is forced upon you by your systemmate.
Avatar
was gonna say
5:41 AM
sounds like tulpamancy/plural shenanigans
5:41 AM
not mental disorder
Avatar
It does not sound like that at all.
Avatar
what are you even referring to tbh
5:41 AM
go quote it
Avatar
Go up and read it, because apparently me discussing this offends the person.
Avatar
they said their systemmate removed them from a discord and that's it
5:42 AM
the punch thing wasn't them
Avatar
Yes, but they said that this caused a hallucination.
Avatar
ehhh...
Avatar
Your tulpa should not be able to cause you to hallucinate. (edited)
Avatar
still sounds like plural shenanigans, also she said it only happened once or twice
Avatar
isn't that kind of what imposition is?
Avatar
Again, I do not believe that this is a hallucination, and really more just saying things to say them, but this would certainly be abnormal.
Avatar
imposition is controlled hallucination
Avatar
Yes, and this was uncontrolled.
5:44 AM
That should not be happening.
Avatar
In the case of wem, sure, reccomend help. However Maria already had said she wasn't seeking help, and you brought it up a second time.
Avatar
I did not bring it up to her again after she had asked me not to.
Avatar
Sharing her personal experience of hallucinating is also not equivalent to claiming that it is commonplace in the community.
Avatar
It was in the context, which was if it was commonplace. (edited)
5:57 AM
it's not my case
Avatar
Either way, I do not think I was at all rude, we will have to agree to disagree, Ivy.
Avatar
xP (edited)
Avatar
I see. I think they did have mental disorders.
Avatar
wouldnt surprise me
5:58 AM
definitely not a healthy mindset at least
Avatar
Something was certainly wrong, for sure.
5:58 AM
I would not worry about something like that going wrong.
